This week I introduced the students to the Master Artist, Piet Mondrian. He was a Dutch artist who is most remembered for his cubism style paintings using squares and rectangles.
I decided to throw in a unique Springtime twist and had the students use pastel colored watercolors rather than the traditional blue, red, yellow and white color scheme that Mondrian is so famous for.
The students first planned out their paintings in their journals and then filled an entire paper canvas with squares and rectangles of different sizes.
After filling their paper with squares and rectangles they had drawn with black sharpies, each student then used pastel watercolor paints to fill in their squares and rectangles.
They turned out so awesome!
